Thanks for the mention, folks. What’s really aggravating about this whole deal is being told you’re laid off, but having no idea when. I was never given official notice, so I report to work each day without knowing if it will be my last. Local management is in the dark, too.

As an employee in the Michigan Cluster it is very unfair to us to be on pins and needles and when questions are asked we get answers read from a script. They need to tell us if we are going to have jobs, be considered for jobs, something so we know. Most are being very proactive in searching for another job right now.

Little consolation to the my 30 co-workers who lost their jobs. But I’m sure the Denver Post’s “outsourcing experment” will turn out similar. We are already experiencing language issues, multiple errors and customer outrage.

Although no one in our Customer Service Center baked cookies for a subscriber many have gone out of their way by personally delivering a paper to a customer on their way home from work because they cared that much. It is such a shame that John Paton would not reconsider this act of out sourcing knowing full well that it will not be successful. That he thinks that little of our subscribers is truly a crime.

Kelly – That is an interesting piece — thanks for sending it along. Paton says the process might take as little as 90 days, so we shouldn’t have to wait too long to see how things shake out.

Great research. Seems like a lost art. Full Disclosure- I separated from the Denver Post in early August. I found this article to be interesting about the possible true intentions of this move.

So I guess I am confused…as I thought JRC purchased Media News? It would be nice if Mr.Paton would assure us Denver Post folks that our pensions are not affected, especially since so many of us are long term employees for 30+ years.
